Kevin Williamson, the screenwriter of ‘Scream 4′, reveals that he is currently trying to ‘figure out a Sid-less scenario’ due to Neve Campbell’s refusal to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott.
Neve Campbell, who portrayed Sidney Prescott on the first three “Scream” films, reportedly has refused to get involved in the fourth installment of the thriller-mystery, “Scream 4″. The rumors sparked as the screenwriter of the film, Kevin Williamson, recently wrote in his Twitter page, “Trying to figure out a Sid-less scenario. She won’t do it. This sucks.”
Campbell’s tight schedule reportedly becomes the reason behind her refusal to be involved. She currently is starring in a new NBC TV series entitled “The Philanthropist” and working on lots of movie projects. The 35-year-old actress previously worked on “Relative Strangers” and “Closing the Ring”.

I can understand why she has decided against it. Scream began as a parody of teen slasher films(which was then, ironically, parodied by Scary Movie) and I think they really were scraping the barrel with the last two.
I do hope they drop the idea of Scream 4 as a result of Neve’s response to the project. Scream without Sidney/Neve would make absolutely no sense whatsoever considering she was the driving force behind the films – not that it would have really made sense were she with the project. Hopefully this shall conclude the Scream debacle once and for all and Neve can pursue more worthwhile films(indie/art-house or otherwise).

“Won’t do it” isn’t the same as “can’t do it” due to her “tight schedule.” It sounds to me like Neve is just done with Scream, no matter who else is involved. Just thinking aloud…

She should do scream 4. She has done nothing better than the scream films ever!!! They are what made her. And I personally won’t watch a damn thing of hers ever again unless she agrees to do the movie. I want a Scream 4. I need a Scream 4. 1 and 2 were great. The third was a little crappy due to the fact that Ehren Krueger wrote it, but 4 has the potential to be good. Come on Neve, make time. Even if they kill you off in 4 and you’re not in 5 and 6. It just needs to be done one more time.
