There’s been lots of discussion about the upcoming slasher fueled return of Scream 4, but one thing that wasn’t always so clear was whether or not franchise star Neve Campbell would be returning. Thankfully all the pieces have fallen into place, and now writer Kevin Williamson has spoken a bit about her return!
“To have [Neve Campbell as] Sydney back – well, I was always holding out hope, because the script is about Sydney, Gale [Courteney Cox] and Dewey [David Arquette],” Williamson tells iF Magazine. “The story for SCREAM Four, Five and Six – the launching pin of that was four, which is those three characters. But I found out originally when [Campbell] declined, I had to reroute it and that put all the onus on Gale and Dewey to carry the whole story, and that was me thinking fast on my toes, but luckily, we got her, I don’t have to do that, I can do it exactly the way I wanted and the story’s going to be told the way I originally conceived it. I’ve been contracted to write four and five.”
Wes Craven will direct working from a script by Kevin Williamson, and Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox Arquette will all reprise their roles along with a group of younger actors, or as we like to call them … fresh meat.
Last Night, on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards, MTV’s Josh Horowitz hit up happy couple and “Scream” stars David Arquette and Courteney Cox for the latest word on Craven and all things “Scream”…
“Yes, Wes [Craven] is in, Neve [Campbell] is in, everyone is in,” Arquette said. The lovely Cox didn’t sound as sure however.
“I know they’re trying to make that work,” she said, referring to bringing the “Nightmare on Elm Street” creator back on to direct. “They’ll make it work,” she said, quickly adding “I hope.”
The two seem excited to get back to their “Scream” roles. It’s not only a high-profile gig; the happily married couple also met while shooting “Scream.” It’s no surprise that they’re game to go back for more.
“I can’t wait to do another ‘Scream,’” David told us. Soon enough. If all goes according to plan, the cameras will start rolling sometime in April.

Neve did an interview to Blackbook Magazine, talking about her life in London, upcoming projects (beside Scream she will be doing a new movie, start shooting in December!), Scream, being mistaken with Jennifer Love Hewitt, and adopting a child from Africa.
The interview was added to our press archive.
Work-wise, what’s next for you before shooting Scream in the Spring?
Well, I’m always trying to find a great new scam to avoid the dark, damp British winters if I can! So, I’ve just signed up to do a movie in Sydney, Australia starting in December. What’s the movie about?
It’s tells the story of a very brave female composer from the 40s. I have been lent a very modern sounding piano to help me get into the role—well, it actually doesn’t make any sound at all, it’s to learn on.
You may remember when I posted here a while ago about an exhibition Craig Mackay would be doing on National Museum of Scotland.
Craig his showing his latest work, “Salt of the Earth”, which capture well-known Scots and international figures with Scottish connections. The dramatic results show a growing confidence in modern Scotland as celebrities, sporting personalities and artists spread their influence abroad. Neve is part of the book since she’s daughter of a Scottish herself.
Out visitor masquerade attended the exhibition in Edinburgh, and scanned the exhibition guide to us. Thanks so much!

A distinct buzz hung over the lawns of the Abu Dhabi Golf Club as the first Grand Prix Ball got underway.
All eyes were on the red carpet as local media waited to see which of the advertised celebrities would put in an appearance. But while a few held up their end of the bargain and walked the red carpet to the outdoor venue, a number originally confirmed did not.
A distinct lack of conversation on the red carpet also became apparent with the equivalent of a drive-by shooting from Kimberly Stewart, Marisa Tomei and surprise guests Janet Jackson and Jeremy Irons who barely acknowledged the media.
However, Neve Campbell didn’t disappoint and made up for the lack of chat from stars arriving before her. Beautiful in a locally-designed Ayesha Depala black number, Campbell joked with reporters about her need for speed.
“I think I have a heavy foot,” she said with a genuine laugh when asked whether she drives fast or slow and with in the limits of the law.
“I caught a bit of the Porsche race, which was great, and I can’t wait to see the F1 cars.”

Neve Campbell has revealed that she could be involved in the next Scream film.
The actress, best known for her role as Sidney Prescott in the horror franchise, said Scream 4 is on the cards.
“Well they’re gonna make it and they’re trying to get me in,” she said. “We’re in negotiations, we’ll see.”
Speaking on the red carpet at the London premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s new movie Inglourious Basterds, the Canadian actress revealed she was a big fan of the controversial US director.
“He’s a visionary and that’s what I love about him, I love the fact that he really tries to break barriers,” she said.
Neve also said she loves everything about living in the UK – especially its proximity to other countries.
The Hollywood star, who first made an impact in early 90s show Party Of Five playing Lost star Matthew Fox’s sister, said: “I love the city (London), I love the culture here, I love being close to so many countries.”
She added: “I love being so close to the other countries and cultures, I really love that about it. Being from Canada it takes eight hours to get across the country, it takes a long time to get anywhere else. So I love being in a place where you can visit other places.”
